Married Filing Jointly Support
This release brings better support for individuals who are Married Filing Jointly (MFJ).
We’ve made it easier to view an individual’s spouse (or spouses) when on the Individual’s Detail Page. You can now see the Spouse’s name and access their page via a link in the Year card, based on years where the individual is MFJ.
When constructing deals, we’ve made two critical improvements:
1. You are now prompted to include or exclude a spouse when adding an individual to a deal.

This is great when adding borrowers rapidly without having to worry about tracking down their spouse(es) for those date ranges. If they have multiple spouses, the verbiage will change to reflect that as well.
2. Individual Cashflow and Debt Schedule rows will now reflect Single, MFJ, or Single & MFJ status depending on the date range of the deal.
For example: John and Sherry married in 2019 and you’re structuring a deal for 2019-2020. You will see a single row showing John and Sherry’s combined values and their information will not be double-counted (a bug we had before):

If you structure a deal outside of that range to include a time before or after they were married, you’ll see two rows as before. However, for the MFJ years you’ll see a new Spouse Indicator that will display spouse information when you hover over it:

We’re excited to release this since it’s been in the works for a while and we hope you enjoy it!

API v2
We had a short-period of downtime last release as a side-effect of adding new functionality to our API. Thankfully we were able to remedy the issue quickly, but as a result we’re pleased to announce the beginning of API v2.
This will allow us to provide new and exciting functionality, while allowing adopters to stay on 1.0 until they’re ready to switch so as to not break any existing functionality. You’re not required to switch yet, of course, but we hope to add more new functionality each release, if possible.
We’ll have more to say about v2 as we continue to roll out features later in the year, but you can follow along with our API updates at the FlashSpread API Docs.
